Hialeah Leaning Tower Inspection

Tim McCarthy P.E.,  has been tapped to provide inspection services and structural engineering consulting to this retailer in Florida. The problem was noticed by an HVAC contractor who contacted the client and explained that the cooling tower was leaning. The steel roof structure will be inspected for deterioration and designed reinforcements proposed and installed as necessary.

Chandler, Arizona, Retail Facility Engineering Completed

Tim McCarthy P.E. is pleased to announce the completion of the engineering contract for this central Arizona retailer. "The client is placing new HVAC equipment on the roof to provide enhanced customer experience as well as capture the energy savings possible with today's equipment", said the engineeng manager. "We performed onsite field measurements of the existing structure because of the unavailability of as-built drawings. Then we analyzed the structure for the new equipment loads. Then we recommended alternative locations to provide the best overall economy for the client."

Virginia Beach, Virginia Retailer Contracts Tim McCarthy P.E. Roof Reinforcement Servives

The mid town retailer has contracted Tim McCarthy P.E. out of Los Angeles, California for structural engineering services associated with its roof top HVAC unit upgrade. All unit are being upgraded to improve the energy efficiency of the store as well as improve customer comfort. "We have perform numerous such project in the Eastern region," said Tim McCarthy P.E. "We are quire familiar with the building code requirements and anticipate swift approval."

Chandler, Arizona Roof Structure Inspection Completed

"The uniqueness here is that, in addition to the replacement of existing HVAC equipment, the Client is also adding some brand new equipment in brand new locations", said Tim McCarthy P.E.

Trinity Florida Roof Structure Reinforcement Engineering Completed

The Florida Retailer is adding new roof mounted equipment to enhance the customer's experience. Tim McCarthy P.E. was consulted because of his reputation nationwide for comprehensive and quick structural engineering services. "The structure is relatively straightforward," said Tim McCarthy P.E. It is a metal deck supported by steel joists. But there are a number of "tricks of the trade", shall we say, employed by various joist manufacturers. It is important to know the manufacturer as well as to obtain excellent field measurements."
The inspection and engineering has been complete. The structure will require relatively minor reinforcements at the one location where a completely new HVAC, as opposed to a replacement, is being installed. The work is expected to be completed by the middlie of March.

Bowstring Truss Reinforcement Proceeding On Schedule


The site is one of the eleven original buildings and one very large hangar constructed by Howard Hughes for his growing aviation enterprise during WW2. The buildings housed his operation when he moved from Glendale. The massive hangar has been utilized by the film industry for years for such features as Aviator and Titanic. This building, now unoccupied is being renovated.

Tim McCarthy P.E. developed the engineered reinforcement process for the reinforcement of the bowstring trusses on this project.

Kingston, NY, Roof Reinforcement Project Completed On Schedule

The retailer is installing a total 18 new HVAC units on the roof of this upstate New York location. "The amount of the roof reinforcement was rather extensive at this particular location," said Tim McCarthy P.E. "It is a somewhat older structure with a steel joist configuration that hasn't been used for quite some time in the US." Mr. McCarthy went on to explain that the top and bottom chords were a "hat shaped bent steel configuration" and the webs were a "split half pipe". The project, completed the night of October 14, took all five days as scheduled.

Anchorage Alaska Retailer Adding New Roof Mounted HVAC

Tim McCarthy P.E. has been contracted to provide roof reinforcement services in Anchorage Alaska. The work will be performed entirely at night. "The store is currently operational, open for business," said Tim McCarthy P.E. "Therefore all of our work will be performed at night. We remain completely invisible to our client's customers." The work is scheduled to be completed October 26.

Tim McCarthy P.E. Completes Huntsville Alabama Retail Roof Reinforcement On Schedule

The work is performed overnight, 100%. "Ultimately, it's all about customer care, customer service," said Tim McCarthy P.E. "The Retailer is installing upgraded HVAC. Why? To provide an excellent customer experience, of course!". Tim McCarthy P.E. provides roof refeinforcement services in all 50 states. "The new HVAC requires a structural engineering sign off that the roof will be okay years from now handling the weight. That's why we are here. The customers are in the store during the day, so our crews work at night. We are completely invisible to our client's customers."
The Huntsville store required reinforcements for multiple HVAC conditions. The work was completed in two nights.
